Friendship Without Self-Interest

21 November 2009 No Comments

Let’s face it.  We all find ourselves entering relationships, whether it’s friendship or not, with self-interested agendas.  By nature, we are selfish beings.  We are always “in it” to see what we can get out of it; never considering what great things we could offer to the other person.  When I say “things”, I don’t mean materialism.  I mean things that are not tangible.

But, how do we overcome our selfish natures and enter our next friendship without self-interest?

Today, don’t think too much about what you can offer the other person.  Instead, give the greatest gift you can give.  And, that greatest gift is a friendship without self-interest.
