Things We Do

7 June 2009 No Comments

Why do we do the things we do? Why do we stay on a path that we know is not good for us? Why do we stay in relationships that are not healthy? Why do we stay in jobs that we know are not truly fulfilling? Why do we hold ourselves hostage in arguments when we know that arguing only leads to more negativity? Why do we look at ourselves and not change?

Why do we do the things we do? Why are we like we are?

It is fear that causes us to trap ourselves in situations where we are most uncomfortable. We fear change; we fear chaos; we fear other people’s opinions of us; we fear situations; we fear ourselves. It’s called living in fear.

We tend to not face the things about ourselves that are the most life-altering. We choose to make excuses; we choose to be blind; we choose not to be stronger.

But, why do we do this?

When you become used to situations and things being the exact way that they are, you become “fixed”, or perhaps, “used to”, and there is no way used to being different. It’s very difficult to become anyway different from what you are now.

In life, we do things, whether we are proud of them or not, we just do things. And, when we wake up in the morning, we regret a lot of our actions, thoughts and behaviors. This is just life. We sometimes don’t know how to think ahead. We, most of the time, do not care to think ahead. Think only once, because when we do, we conquer. Even though it may not seem like it.

For the majority of us, we face insecurities in our lives that keep us paralyzed, much like fear. Fear is an insecurity. Fear is a barrier. Fear is false evidence appearing real. It is not real.

This week, Be the hero. Be the changed, beautiful YOU. Be different from where and who you are now.
