Ouch! Sounds Harsh
“Truth is not beautiful, neither is ugly. Why should it be either? Truth is Truth.” — Owen C. Middleton
The problem most of us have is laying aside our foolish pride and stuffed egos to hear and accept the truth about ourselves. We can be cowards because we don’t like when someone corrects us, or reminds us of our faults. We are the ultimate victims when it comes to others’ judgments, critiquing and criticisms. When someone dare tells us any truth about ourselves, we are all of a sudden “under attack” by them- and by everyone in the world. Besides, it’s everyone else’s fault why our lives are the way that they are, right?
We are so full of blame and animosity, all because someone actually stepped up to the plate and told us exactly where we are lacking. They told us the truth, and we hate them for being truthful!
Ouch! Sounds harsh, doesn’t it?
Until we learn to look at ourselves honestly, then we will stay stuck in the same-ole’ circumstances and situational predicaments we are currently in. Until we learn to trade in our victim consciousness for clear consciousness, then we will continue to suffer. Until we learn to let go of our self-indulgences, pride and egos we will continue to lose this race. Until we learn to hold ourselves rightfully accountable, we will continue to lag behind full of blame, like a drenched umbrella in our game of life. Until we become truthful with ourselves, we will remain low and falling.
“In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.” — Carlyle, Thomas
This week, leave blame at the door, along with victim consciousness, anger, resentment, enmity and bitterness. Are you the victim or the hero? This week you choose which one you want to be. When you are the hero, you are able to openly- and with bravery- accept the naked truth about yourself, and then transform who you currently are into a brilliant sparkling brand-new you. You are the star this week, but you must become high and rising.
