Ready To Deepen
“We can only go as deep as our shallow minds allow us. This is why depth is an art and a skill, not an event to just pass time.” — Penna
Men and women who are ready to deepen or formally embark on a spiritual journey are typically standing at some kind of crossroads. Often they are grieving over some loss or disappointment- separation from or death of a loved one, personal crisis, financial crisis, health problems, or and overriding sense that something is wrong or missing. Sometimes they are simply looking for a way to better love the world.
Most people don’t even want to deepen themselves until they are faced with distress. And, as soon as the depression and the uncomfortable situation has ceased, they put their self-help books and CDs back on the shelf to again gather dust.
Why is it that people only want to better themselves when they are in a crisis situation? Shouldn’t we want to always look for enlightenment, no matter what situation we are in? Even though we have our nice, expensive and fancy cars. Even though we have our massive and elegant homes. Even though we have our sexy Couture wardrobes …. Don’t we still want to continuously better ourselves? Don’t we still want to become better human beings?
Today, put your value in your Inner Princess (your inner world). Materialistic wealth, and all that ‘s going on in the outside world can be a teaser, and the satisfaction of it will only be short-lived. The real value is within you, who you are as a person. Continuously be ready to deepen yourself beyond who and what you already are.

Unfortunately, all too often, we take life for granted. Sometimes, we have this sense that we are owed and deserve to have everything go well for us. I believe that it is because of this, that we never think about what we can do to improve ourselves until we are in a crisis. This article serves as a great reminder and reality check that although we would like life to always go as well as we would like it, we can’t take life for granted, as we can never anticipate what is around the corner. We must be grateful for every second that things are good. We must be grateful for our health. We must be grateful that we are granted another day to live. We must always appreciate what we have everyday, no matter how much or how little we have, no matter how good or bad things are at the moment, and do what we can to improve ourselves to strive to become the best people we can be at ALL times, no matter what obstacles life puts in our way. Life is a learning process, which is why we must always have the want at all times to learn new things and better ourselves. Thanks for the reminder!!
Joel, thank you. I really appreciate such a warm and well thought-out comment. All too often we do take life for granted, so easily and absentmindedly we do. Thank you for reminding me of that!!
