Problem With Needing Someone

31 May 2009 No Comments

“The problem with needing someone is that when you need someone and then no longer need them, you are out the door.  But when you want someone, the chances of you leaving are slim.  However, as you know, wants can expire.” — Penna

We are all longing to be loved, cared for, supported and understood.  But, when we are longing only out of need, we are actually experiencing a lack.  When we long because we truly and deeply want someone, we are then coming from the very best intention.

Wouldn’t you feel better knowing that the person you are with [friend, colleague, relative, co-worker, neighbor, lover] is there with you because they want you, not because they need you?

Lean on someone today- not because you need them, but because you want them.  When you want someone, you are in the understanding that it is always a 2-way street.  Your constant question to yourself is, “Am I giving or taking?”  The problem with needing someone is that very important question never enters your mind.
