Nothing Personal

25 May 2009 No Comments

“Any time someone’s thoughts, words or actions become of offense to you, you are being self-absorbed- in that you think it’s all about you. Freedom comes when you know that there is nothing personal is anyone’s agenda.” — Penna

Most people make assumptions. A lot of people make assumptions based on past experiences. It has nothing to do with you personally. Most people are caught up in stereo-types and do not know how to separate you from the other person, action, or situation- or even themselves. Most people are not independent thinkers. Therefore, they only take on the consciousness and the thinking of the groups they are a part of, or influences they’ve picked up along the way through their journey.

Anytime someone acts in a way that is unpleasing to you, and you find offense, you are being self-absorbed- in that, you think it’s all about you; you think it’s personal. We face insecurities; therefore, our insecurities cause our already dampened self-esteem to assume that that person’s actions were personally based. Any person that’s in your life is a mirror reflection of you. When taking something personally, it’s time to shift to an impersonal consciousness.

Today, when someone acts in a certain way, or says something that is displeasing to you, assume that it’s nothing personal and it’s not about you. Instead, ask yourself what is really going on with that person.
