Deer in Headlights

12 May 2009 One Comment

“Most of us, most of the time, are so perplexed about life. We are chaotically caught up- just like deer in headlights.” — Penna

Because of our own emotionally addictive needs, we constantly fall back into Default Thinking.  We become so incredibly wrapped up in life, so bewildered. We become caught up on other people, caught up on frivolous things, caught up on circumstantial situations; we even become caught up and stuck on ourselves.  We are stuck in our very own headlights of life!

We are so similar to deer caught in headlights.  How?  Well, the first thing a deer does when it sees headlights is freeze.  It stops dead in it’s tracks.  We do the same thing when it comes to life and life’s chaoses.  We tend to freeze in motion, failing to take on the situation at hand; we fail to continue moving forward.  We allow life’s set-backs, obstacles, tasks and unpleasantries hit us like a car would hit a deer frozen stiff in the middle of the road.

Today, when you see your own personal headlights come on, don’t freeze like a deer in headlights.  Instead, mount that insurmountable task.  Become the hero!
