In This Game Together

12 April 2009 No Comments

“In life, there will always be stumbling stones, obstacles and setbacks. So, how do you intend to move your chess piece?” — Penna

Just like in the game of Chess, in life you will always have an Opponent, an Adversary. But, also just like in the game of Chess you will need to know precisely how to move your chest piece (yourself; your life).

How do you go about living your life? Are you a strategic planner, or do you live congruently? Are you spur-of-the-moment, spontaneous and adventurous? Or, are you cold, rigid and by the book? Do you take risks and grab onto chances? Or, do you keep up the same-ole’, never-altering routine?

Although, in the game of Chess, you have your Opponent seriously trying to “capture” your piece (i.e. “capture” you), and put you out of play forever, you are still in the game with the Opponent- because you have that equal opportunity of “capturing” your Opponent, as well. Get it?

The part you may not have caught is that you both are still in the game. You are both in this game together. You see, without your Adversary, you wouldn’t even have a game to play, because you wouldn’t have anyone to play with. Life is a game, the ultimate game! If you learn to play the game right, your Adversary can become your Ally.

Today, how do you go about living your life? Once you realize that we are all in this game together, you will then understand that your worst enemy in life is YOU.
