What Do You Want?

5 October 2008 2 Comments

“If you greatly desire something, have the guts to stake everything on obtaining it.” –Brendan Francis

When someone asks us what we want, we can immediately name small things. Such as the newest in-season Chanel handbag, or the latest crocodile Gucci boots, or the newest most fabulously shimmerousTM Yves St. Laurent lipstick.

One minute we want our neighbor’s shiny new car, and the next we want our best friend’s shiny new bracelet. One minute we want a close, caring and intimate relationship, and then at other times we just want to be single and free.

But, what do you really want?

When I ask this question of women, the most common answer I get (including mine) is, “I just want to be happy.” What a cop-out! We give this generic answer as if we are so afraid or so ashamed to really have desires.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having desires. As a matter of fact, the only way to truly receive is to have desires. And, the bigger the desire, the greater the chance you have to receive it.

This week, put a voice to the desires that you have. Figure out what you truly want from life and voice it. Talk about it constantly; share it with your friends; make a point to dream about them!

Become excited about dreaming and wanting and having huge desires. Make a point to write them down, and read them every day this week to create the life that you truly truly want.

WHAT-DO-YOU-WANT-?!   Always remember, in obtaining anything you truly desire, you must take the necessary steps.

This week, know what you want. And then, take the steps to obtain it.     Even if it’s only one step at a time.

So true. I know what i want but am caught up on being too busy doing what i have to. big bummer there. it’s all about the choices we make. we make good choices and it’s all good. but when we make complicated life choices then we can suffer. I hope i can be free of what i have to do someday and do what i want to, or better said what i desire to make me feel alive inside. thank you for the inspiration. love your work.
