Starting Over

7 September 2008 No Comments

Each day life brings us challenges and situations that we have to face that sometimes takes weeks, months or even years to get past. Have you ever looked back on your life and one day realized you’ve been sitting in that same pain from childhood that you experienced when you were like 2 years old? Then you suddenly realize that you are holding a grudge against someone you knew in the 7th grade? Sometimes we hold grudges so long that we can’t even remember why we were ever upset with that person in the first place. The grudge has become so insignificant but we choose to hang on to it anyway and maybe because it feels good or because it serves our purposes for the moment.

This month is all about starting over, about getting past our past and forgiving.

Every night, when we sleep, our minds decide that when we rise the next morning we will have started anew; that when we rise we already know we have a fresh start. That means that whatever we did, or anyone else did to us, the day before no longer exists- so we have an opportunity each night to dismiss the weight of our- or someone else’s- actions or words. However we feel that we have harmed or been harmed, we have a chance to get rid of it. Each morning we have a chance to start fresh and to enter our days with brand new ideas and explore brand new enjoyable moments. Yesterday no longer has an effect and we should use that opportunity to forgive others, forgive ourselves, discharge debts and move forward.

I think it’s time for us to forget about the days when we felt we suffered pain from someone taking from us, or violating us, or whatever disregard they may have shown us. And we want to hate them, but we shouldn’t. If we only knew that they taught us through the rough times to strive then we would thank them. Because they helped us to grow. You see, there is a bigger picture, and we have to let go of the past in order to see it.

I’ve met so many women that say the same things to me.  That we tend to hold on and want to blame someone else for any of the mistakes that we’ve made.  Or for any dreams that we feel someone held us from.  My answer to this is to “Just let go!”   Stop hating or trying to stop the next person from trying to succeed.

We have a chance this month to really let it all go and to really make it happen this time.

Also this month, we can really do some serious self cleansing and starting to forgive the nonsense. We are all here to help each other along the way. Whether it’s through a hug, kind words, encouragement, time- whatever the means of investment for helping someone is, this is the month for that. We have to start forgiving, as well as asking others to forgive us.

We are in an age of understanding, knowledge and empowerment, and therefore should not harbor ill will. We are now dreaming bigger, and those dreams are easier to come true now than before because we are open up to the idea of forgiveness. Once we learn to forgive then we can begin to master the art of actually creating what we want. The information is here, and we can just tap into it through forgiveness.

This month, take the time to call or write a letter to everyone in your life that you have been fighting with, and try to make ammends.  It’s time to forgive the nonsense and move forward in friendship.
